Eternally grateful to a friend who referred me to CMA. I hadnt spoken to them before my husband passed, my brain was in a fog and I didnt know anything. Yvonne and Heather took their time explaining procedures and costs to me and they even suggested calling later in case I didnt understand due to the grief fog. Kindness, compassion and empathy were all I felt from the staff in the Charlottesville, VA office of CMA. Because of my experience with them I will be pre planning my cremation. I have also referred them to a friend whose husband is in hospice. Highly recommend them
The team at Cremation Society of Virginia was professional and courteous. They handled everything that I needed. Communication in the middle of the process could have been a little better. I sent two emails to my contact at CSV without a response. They let me know when everything was ready and set up an appointment to pick things up. Very painless process from start to finish during a difficult and trying time.
"Losing Danielle is the hardest thing Ive ever gone through, but I am so deeply grateful to the Cremation Society of Charlottesville for their kindness. From the very first phone call, they handled everything with such dignity and tenderness. They treated our beloved girl with the respect a family member deserves, which brought immense peace to my heart during a chaotic, painful time. They didnt just handle a service; they supported us through our grief."

Mr. Stephen R. Christianson provided exceptional help and efficiency regarding my mothers burial arrangements. The transfer was extraordinarily complicated, as her ashes were coming from the United States and required multiple prior authorizations from the French Consular Services in Washington. Mr. Christianson was truly effective in facilitating this complex process. Thanks to his efforts, my mothers final wishto be buried alongside her husband and daughterwas fulfilled with complete peace and serenity. Going above and beyond, Mr. Christianson even attended my mothers burial. His dedication to his profession is absolute.
December 7, 2024: the Hill and Wood staff were extremely sensitive and professional in planning funeral service for my brother. The staff guided me through it with kindness and ease. Rev. Robert Lewis even came to my home because I did not have transportation to come to them. They were extremely respectful of the wishes I had for my brother. I cannot put in words on paper how satisfied I was with them. My brother loved apples, they went out and got the best tasting apples ever. My family and friends each had apples in memory of my brother. The set-up, the slide show, everything was wonderful. They went above and beyond----. I will gladly recommend Hill and Wood to anyone seeking funeral services for their loved one. Stormi did a wonderful job with the "business like" business card and the bookmarks. I could go on but I guess I've said enough. Thanks Hill and Wood.
The sudden death of my sister was devastating, and trying to navigate managing her estate and not having a clue was daunting. Robert made it that much easier. His graciousness, kindness, expertise, and professionalism was like a balm to my broken spirit, gently guiding me through the process. You took excellent care of me and my sister and I will forever be grateful. Everyone at Hill and Wood couldn't be nicer. Maryann never tired of answering my incessant questions and phone calls. We don't live in VA or else I would make my final arrangements with these awesome people. I highly recommend using their services if you find yourself in that heartbreaking position.

My family is there. It is always so beautiful and well taken care of.
They work hard to get you answers to your concerns. Deborah will go above and beyond to help the family.
I was reading the reviews and feel that I need to clarify the cost of the Opening/Closing. They are right, the cost is $1695.00...but that covers the Opening and Closing for full body casketed interment service, including the tent, chairs and cemetery representation at the entire service; and all it entails; for an inurnment the cost is $995.00. I hope this will help all to understand the full service of what they call the "opening/closing" that your loved one will receive during this very difficult time

Great service Carol Elliott was awesome Great to work with.
Carol answered every question we had. She was so knowledgeable about everything. We saw all options and made our choices. I even changed my mind and it was fine, she fixed all the details as we requested. My husband is a veteran and I am not but she showed us how he can be remembered by all the amazing things he did and I can still be with him. She had everything we needed to apply for all the benefits and even had reminder pages to fill out so no detail is forgotten. We are more peaceful knowing our children dont have to go through the angst we did burying our parents. And we get to say goodbye the way we want. It wasnt as bad as I expected. Carol made it easy. She is wonderful! The burden isnt on our children. It has all been arranged.
Teague made the entire funeral and burial process seamless. We had to make arrangements for a funeral and burial in Charlottesville after the death occurred in Atlanta and Teague coordinated everything in a professional, caring and totally accommodating manner.
