My family and I had a very pleasant experience with the staff of Charles Mackey Funeral Home. From the time the body was picked up until the Limo driver brought our family home from the funeral services EVERYONE was kind, considerate and compassionate. The mortician did an excellent job. My dad had been sick and lost a lot of weight, but he looked just like himself in the coffin. A very special THANKS to the staff!d

Ive grown weary of the funeral industry over the last few years. When I checked the prices for a simple cremation I was astounded. Thats when I realized the two funeral homes my family always worked with were no longer locally owned. They had both been purchased by the same conglomerate. Thats when I searched for a locally owned funeral service and stumbled across Church Funeral Services. When I mentioned them to the hospice nurses they immediately confirmed that I would be in good hands. The same thing happened when I told our minister who I would be using. Every person who has experience with Church had nothing but glowing things to say. And now Im adding y story to that. I needed a simple cremation done and they handled everything efficiently and respectfully. They never once tried to sell me services I didnt need. A few months ago, my uncle passed away unexpectedly. He was initially taken to one funeral one, but the decision was made to move him to Desselle. This was by far the best decision that we could have made. Mr. Jonathan and the staff that he has assembled are the epitome of professionals. My mother Nomzamo Iyanu passed away on June 28 2025 around 3 AM in the morning. Her body lays rest at the Winfield funeral home graveyard on plank Road in Baton Rouge Louisiana. A year before my mom passed she told me what she wanted to wear for her funeral. She always said she wanted African dancers and for it to be a celebration. The Winfield funeral home, exceeded my expectations. They did such an amazing job. We worked directly with Mr. Wil Carter, Mr. Christian Slaughter, Miss Renea Spears and Leslie Burnstein. Each one of them did an excellent job. They were extremely professional. They were patient with us as we changed different things like the order of the program, my mothers clothing and jewelry, the picture video, and the blessing of my mothers body. They gave us the time that we needed to get everything in order and they showed up to the program matching our theme, African attire. They exceeded in every area. In an unexpected death of a dear family member, I, as next of kin, needed to make quick decisions about cremation, per his wills request upon passing. I was not familiar with cremation services, as we had only ever used Greenoaks for traditional funeral and burial services. So, Allison, my assigned director, worked very closely with me explaining, detailing and sharing so kindly any and all information I needed to move forward. Allison was patient, so very respectful, and quick to offer any answers to the many questions I had. The timeliness of both the cremains and death certificates being returned to me/our family was impressive as well. Additionally, Allison was very careful and professional in dealing with an unfortunate situation created by an outside acquaintance of our loved one. Her protection of our personal and private requests and mindfulness toward our concerns while respecting our close familys need to keep things very private was appreciated beyond words!

We worked with Jennifer at Greenoaks to handle all of my mothers arrangements. She was truly a blessing to my dad and I. She made everything so easy and took extra time with us making us feel so at ease. I would highly recommend asking for Jennifer in your time of need.
