James Fender is a good man. He is compassionate and professional and the amount of stress he has to deal with from grieving families everyday shows the testament of his character. He remains cool and calm under fire and is professional and reserved. I see a lot of reviews where people are bashing him for this that and the other but my personal experience was nothing but stellar respect and dignity. James and his staff were both compassionate and patient with our family during our darkest time. He buried my daughter with respect and is a class act. It's not easy doing that type of job and Mr fender is a shining example of a man who does this for the public and not just for the money. I recommend fender funeral directors to anyone looking for a funeral service during their darkest time.
James Fender is one of the best directors Mr. Fender becomes heavily involved for his families and works hard to ensure that all the needs of his families are not only met but goes beyond anyones expectations. The Lexington KY community is extremely blessed to have such a man caring for this community. His professionalism is beyond any reproach.
I want to thank James and his staff for all you did for my family the service was great in our time of need Fast service and so kind .I would recommend Fender Funeral Director to anyone Family of Lloyd D York

Mr. Omer and Eric were so pleasant, empathetic and knowledgeable in their assistance with our dads final arrangements. From start to finish Omers team kept us aware of everything we needed to do traveling to Kentucky for a smooth intimate service for our family. We greatly appreciate everything you ALL did. Dad would be proud!
I went with a friend to plan the funeral for her mom and had several interactions with Omer Cowherd, the funeral home director, as we made plans. Every step of the process was professional and empathetic. Omer was able to explain the process and work with my friend to plan a service that honored her mom and was within her financial budget. I was conveniently located and felt welcoming and comfortable. I know my friend had a great experience for such a somber time.
Smith & Smith funeral home was absolutely wonderful to work with. We used them for a cremation of a loved one and they were respectful and prompt throughout the entire process. Would recommend them 1000x over.

David Washburn was compassionate and helpful as we went through this uncomfortable process. Losing a loved one isn't easy, but a caring person can begin the healing process. David did just that.
They took care of my dad amazingly. I'm just upset that when I went to spread his ashes in the ocean last night, there were hundreds of giant chunks of bone. All of my family's ashes have been completely ash, except for my father's...

Our sweet Caya let us know she was tired and it was time to let her go rest. Our vets office uses this cremation facility for their patients. It was very sad to have to go in and pick up her ashes. When I opened my gift bag and the first thing I saw was her paw print, I smiled and felt so happy. I wasnt expecting to see the paw print but I also wasnt expecting to feel so happy about the inside of this bag. The paw print made my day! It is so adorable and it just made me think of my babys little paws and the good times. The box that her ashes are in is EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL! I dont know what I was expecting, but I wasnt expecting this to be so nice. I had been looking for something else before I picked up her ashes but this is beautiful so we decided to use this wooden urn instead. The velvet bag that the wooden urn is in, is also very nice and the embroidery added a special touch. Even the cremation certificate is a comforting gesture. Just seeing her first and last nam
I work at a vet clinic that partners with Bluegrass Pet Crematorium. I recently had to use their services. That team went above and beyond. And I am FOREVER thankful and greatful for them. My baby Rubble died unexpectedly last week. I was incredibly distraught and not thinking because it happened in an instant. I kept honestly thinking, "how am I not going to be able to kiss my sweet babies face and touch those toe beans again." I had 0 clue they offered face prints. Boom one was in my bag and when he came back to me. I saw those ashes, paw print and nose imprint. I completely lost it. In a good way of course. Instant relief and happiness rushed to my thoughts for the first time in a WEEK. I absolutely cannot be more thankful for the kindness, thoughtfulness, and CARE they treated my husband and I. I can now settle my brain that my beloved companion Rubble was in the best hands and care possible. HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS PLACE for the services they provide.
We lost our fourteen year old pup peacefully at home late last week, and we are not from the area. After some quick research, I cam upon Bluegrass and contacted them. They walked me through the next steps and options, and dispatched someone when we were ready to take care of the cremation process. We received his remains back in three days in a beautiful wooden box inside a soft bag, along with a cute paw print memory and some helpful resources. Thanks for making a difficult time much easier.

Very pleased with the service. Everyone we dealt with was professional and kind. They showed genuine empathy as was demonstrated by every considerate detail. The remains were placed in a decorative wooden box, with a certificate and a sympathy card. Thank you.
Everyone I spoke with was kind and compassionate throughout the whole process. The standard wooden box is actually really nice and has a pretty engraving on the top. The ceramic paw print and ink nose prints were perfect. I did have a short wait in the parking lot when I dropped my baby girl off and when I picked her up, but it wasnt more than 10-15 minutes and honestly Im glad I had that time to process. Im not sure why they dont have better reviews, Im not the first in my family to use them and we never had a problem.
Took my Old friend Buddy after he passed away in our home I was very pleased with how we were treated and the service we received. Buddy was our family for 18 years they were kind and understanding and we received him back in a beautiful box and some kind words and some beautiful keepsakes of him our family thanks you for kindness in our time of sorrow

I have nothing but great things to say about this family/team. We came to them needing a full package service, and they went above and beyond to ensure we got everything we needed. This was such a great location for a smaller service, and was amazingly affordable. This is a family well-established in multiple areas in Lexington and surrounding counties, which gave me solace that they were going to take wonderful care of our family's situation. Additionally, they are a full-package service (funeral, cremation, crematory, and help with headstones too), so I'm looking forward to working with them on a headstone in the near future. I would 10/10 recommend them all day long. Their customer service is amazing, and their expertise and professionalism is unmatched. We are happy we were introduced to them, and Emily is our saving grace. Thank you for everything!
Great place. Tom and his wife go above and beyond to help you in this sad time. Highly recommend

Our family could not have asked for a more caring, professional, and compassionate experience. From our first call through the day of the service, every detail was handled with kindness and respect. Jaidyn Turner was exceptional, organized, responsive, and genuinely compassionate. She guided us through a service that had many moving parts, including Masonic rites, Lexington Police Department honors, and full Veteran military honors, and she coordinated everything flawlessly. The staff at Milward treated our family and our loved one with dignity and care. The chapel was beautiful, the coordination with the cemetery and honor guards was seamless, and every part of the day reflected respect and excellence. We are deeply grateful to Jaidyn and the entire Milward team for their professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. Highly recommend Milward Funeral Directors in Lexington, KY to any family seeking trusted, heartfelt funeral care.
Can't say enough nice things about Milward Funeral Home and especially Angie Walters. Our funeral home in Arlington, Virginia has assisted with several burials for them in Arlington National Cemetery. Very professional and very friendly to deal with. Lexington, Kentucky is so fortunate to have a firm like theirs.
My Opa (grandfather) recently passed away and my family used Milward Funeral Directors for his arrangements. I happen to work at a funeral home out of state and I just have to say that, as someone familiar with the industry, I was very impressed by their compassion and professionalism. There were multiple times I feel they went above and beyond in order to fulfill our wishes and make us as comfortable with this process as is possible. To those who work at Milward's: you have my sincerest appreciation and gratitude for all your amazing work!
