Hawaii's cremation costs are among the highest in the nation due to the islands' remote location and higher operating costs. Honolulu on Oahu has the most providers, while outer islands have limited options.

Hawaii Cremation Laws

Hawaii requires a 48-hour waiting period before cremation. The state mandates written authorization from the next of kin and a completed death certificate.

As my family and I made plans honor my fathers wishes to have them buried in Hawaii because it was their favorite place to visit. As it was going to be a Military burial Dodos was there to make all the arrangements for us. As all 35 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were coming from the state of Illinois area, it was all their hands to organize for us. The whole family was so pleased with how the ceremony went which helped put them at ease. As we never met them in person they still after it all they called me to make sure everything went smoothly. I thank them for all they did for me and my family.

I cannot recommend Ballard Family Mortuary highly enough especially the incredible Mr. and Mrs. Lee. They turned an overwhelmingly difficult time into a truly dignified and seamless experience after the sudden loss of my father Robert Perry Johnson Despite an extremely tight timeline, they prepared Dads body with the utmost care and respect for his service in Hawaii, then coordinated shipping to Texas in record time. We even received his death certificate faster than we thought possible. Every detail was handled with precision and urgency, yet never at the expense of compassion. Mr. and Mrs. Lee were exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and attentive throughout the entire grieving process. They listened, guided us gently through tough decisions, and made arrangements feel effortless during a time when nothing else did. Their empathy and professionalism brought us genuine comfort. If youre looking for a funeral home that treats your loved one and your family like their own, choose Ballard.

First of all, I just want to say that Loke was a Rockstar for us. From the first phone call to the closing signature. She made everything smooth and easy. She was so helpful and knowledgeable and made the whole process for this important investment as stress-free as possible. She is truly an asset.

I made a phone call to Homelani Memorial Park and an angel answered the phone. Edna (Loke) Russell could not have made the process of dealing with our future cremation plans any easier. We showed up at the mortuary two hours later, and were in and out in twenty minutes, for less than $1200. Each. What a relief it is to have this long dreaded burden finally completed and off of my plate. Thanks, Loke for sharing your expertise and kindness with us and by making us glad we called you during our time of need. We feel blessed and wish you well, The Hermans

Its the driveway on the left side, before Mikahala St. and in the Business Center. You drive around the back of the building and you will see them on the left. Pat and the Crew are EXTREMELY compassionate. I picked up my pet's ashes on the 6th day.

My family dog was killed by a hit and run on a Friday night-I called the number on the website and received a call back about 12a. I was told I could bring my dog in on Saturday, between 9am-12p. I was grateful, because I had no idea what I was going to do until Monday. I met with Pat and he was soo gentle with my deceased family pet when he removed him from the bin and the blanket I had wrapped him in to keep him safe from the outside animals. I was so grateful that they took him in on the weekend.
