Rhode Island's small size means fewer cremation providers, but Providence, Warwick, and Cranston offer competitive options. Prices are somewhat above the national average due to the higher cost of living.

Rhode Island Cremation Laws

Rhode Island requires a 48-hour waiting period before cremation. The state mandates that a licensed funeral director handle all cremation arrangements and obtain a medical examiner's approval.

Thank you so much for your compassion and kindness through an extremely emotional period in our lives. Everyone we interacted with was wonderful. Everything looked beautiful and I loved how the slideshow displayed on the wall big enough for everyone to see during the visitation hours. Definitely recommend.

My father recently passed away and we called upon O'Neills for services. The level of service and compassion is unparalleled compared to other providers in the area. They did an exceptional job for our family while we indured this difficult time.

Sadly, my mother passed away on Friday 11/17/23. O'Neill Funeral Home staff and owners helped us through this very trying time, arranging for a beautiful visitation and service on Sunday 11/19/23. Their efficiency, experience and level of concern and caring were remarkable. They were even able to find a wonderful Catholic deacon to deliver the service on short notice and on a Sunday. I cannot think of anything that could have been done any better and we could not have asked for a more beautiful funeral service. Thank you so much!

I thought that the setting was layed out beautifully. The extra little table with the cards and handouts were a plus. The staff was attentive and respectful. I didn't have to ask for anything, and when I did it was done. The only negative reaction by the 5 of us that had a look at her in the casket was her hair was not fixed even close to how it was shown in all the pictures I gave for the slide show. This one little detail did bother all of us a bit, but it didn't warrent changing our view on the total service. Thank you very much.

My husband and I visited his brothers grave there and were tremendously impressed with the beauty of the grounds and how well kept it was. In addition, we found the staff responsible for the maintaining the area especially helpful in that two individuals took time to help us locate a Revolutionary War Veterans grave.

It is a very peaceful and beautiful place, but do be careful of ticks when walking or visiting a grave site.
