Hawaii Cremation Laws

Hawaii requires a 48-hour waiting period before cremation. The state mandates written authorization from the next of kin and a completed death certificate.

I was the only family member on island to represent dad. My sister and brother could not get a flight on such short notice. And I called them from Nakamura's, from the: "don't gotta wait no more" room. (they gone) I shared with them how Chasity and Michael are professional angels who made my visit special instead of routine. As we dealt with business Chasity and Micheal came from their heart and soul, so I felt as if my own ohana were with me. Thank you, Ohana Mortuary.

Michael Gray was amazing and made us feel really comfortable discussing something that could be difficult. We are grateful and feel more at ease for our children knowing they dont have the burden of arranging for our resting place.

I loved how Nalani was very patient with me and checked in with me. She took care of what I needed.

My family was not one for whom Maui Memorial Park had provided previous services. My family was one looking to honor the wishes of a loved one who wanted Maui to be the launching point for her journey into forever. We found Maui Memorial Park on Google, but after a brief interaction, we knew we had been sent there by a much higher power. The care, the patience, the generosity, the compassion, and the kindness shown us made one of the most difficult tasks so culturally rich and so very beautiful. Thank you, Chasity Koko, for everything. You went above and beyond what we could have ever dreamed. May you and your business be blessed without end.
