This is the 5th funeral I have had the honor of organizing. This time I lived 500 miles away. My 57 year old sister passed unexpectedly in her sleep. NewComer was recommended by her best friend and it was within walking distance for her only heir, a son. I have a different view of funerals/memorials than most. I make every effort to make sure everyone has an opportunity to grieve in a way most meaningful to them. Mindi was embalmed, NewComer made changes to her appearance in accordance to the wishes of her best friend. We had the flowers delivered to NewComer. NewComer found a phone number for us for the Church we wanted to use, [we tried for 2 weeks]. Some wanted memory lockets, pouches, etc. of Mindi's ashes and NewComer even accommodated the blending of Mindi's ashes with those of her partner so they could be scattered together. Next NewComer mailed the ashes to AZ so our daughter can spread them on a beach in Mexico, on her next trip. All of this happened in a timely manner.
