I lost my son & was beside myself with grief. The owner Jim Shires & his caring staff allowed me & my family personal time with my son Jason as well as extra days before his burial. I could never thank them enough for their kindness.
I can not say enough good things about Jim, or all of the wonderful people that make that funeral home great. They make a hard time, just a little easier.
On behalf of our family, I would like to thank Cravens-Shires for going above and beyond to help provide our family with compassion and support during a difficult time being my father resided 8.5 hrs from his final resting place. Craven-Shires took care of ever aspect and kept us informed with each step and process. We couldn't have provided the service we would have wanted without Craven-Shires. Please know when a difficult decision needs to be made Craven-Shires is able and will provide your family with the love and service they deserve. Thanks again for everything you have done to ease our concerns. Thank you. God bless.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes
How much does direct cremation cost at Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes?
Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes lists direct cremation from $1,795 in Bluefield, West Virginia. That is a listed starting price, not a quote. Ask for a written, itemized price list before paying — any funeral provider must give you one on request under the FTC Funeral Rule.
What cremation packages does Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes list prices for?
Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes publishes starting prices for direct cremation from $1,795, cremation with a memorial service from $5,080 and a full-service funeral with cremation from $7,235. What each package includes varies between providers, so ask for an itemized list of exactly what is and is not covered before comparing those figures with anyone else’s.
How is Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes rated?
Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes is rated 4.5 out of 5 from 17 reviews. That rating and review count come from the provider’s public Google listing, not from Local Cremation Guide. A rating says nothing about price, so compare quotes as well as reviews.
Where is Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes located?
Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes is at 3431 Coal Heritage Rd, Bluefield, WV 24701, and we list them under Bluefield, West Virginia. Cremation providers often collect from surrounding towns, hospitals and hospices as well, but coverage and any mileage charge vary — ask Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes whether they serve your address and what transportation is included in the price.
How do I get an itemized quote from Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes?
Call Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes at +1 304-589-3860 and ask for their General Price List. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, any funeral provider must give you an itemized price list on request and must quote prices over the phone. Line the same items up across providers — the cremation fee, transportation, the basic container, filing the death certificate and certified copies — so you are comparing like with like.
Is this listing verified by Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes?
No. This listing was compiled from public sources and has not been claimed by Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes, so we cannot confirm the details with the business. Treat the prices and contact details on this page as a starting point and confirm them directly.
Can I get quotes from other Bluefield providers too?
Yes. We list 7 cremation providers in Bluefield, and the free quote form on this page goes to local providers, not only Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes. Comparing at least three itemized quotes for the same service is the simplest way to tell whether a price is fair.
Prices, ratings and contact details on this page come from the listing we hold for Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes and are refreshed periodically — confirm anything you are relying on directly with the provider.
