We went with our mom several years ago, to McAlister Smith Funeral Homes, to choose and pay for what she wanted when the time would come to take her home to her Lord. Fast forward to the recent week when our mom passed and we were faced with the preparation of her final arrangements. We were not prepared for the decisions that had to be made to include verses, memories, music and her outfit. We were consumed with such sadness and a degree of not accepting this was happening. My brother and I were met exactly where we were and led through each and every step. The patience, compassion and respect that was shown to us from the front staff to the funeral director did not waver. We were helped and held steadfast until we could move forward.
