I can't find the words to that John and Patrick enough. I live in Michigan and my brother passed in NJ. I lost my job and my partner had back surgery so we are really strapped for cash. I was told that if my brother was on medicaid, that they would help with the costs. I've never heard of such a program and didn't know where to start. I was having difficulties with medicaid to get approval because of a 3rd party (DirectExpress) and thought that my brother would be buried in a mass unmarked grave. I ended up emailing the senator and was able to get approval to have my brother's expenses paid for. I called to let John know and spoke with Patrick. We recently needed their services for a close family member. Many years ago we had a meeting to discuss these particular arrangements and pre-pay for the funeral as a part of nursing home placement. The promises they had made back then were all delivered, and more, with a large serving of empathy. From my professional capacity as an emergency physician I have needed to interact with a few funeral directors, and as with any profession there are some above and some below the average. The Healeys demonstrate everything one could want in these difficult circumstances: communication, organization, and above all else genuine compassion. They were so prompt picking up our loved one that they arrived before the nursing home staff got around to calling the family about the death.
